Between the sea of Ericeira and Malveira?s mountain, between Mafra?s baroque and the urbanism of Lisbon, it is still possible to find one of the last retirement places where Nature melts with the villages and with the man. Dispersed villages in the horizon, mills and legends, simple houses and exuberant palaces. A really unique region, flavoured by the Ocean?s salt and protected by the mounts. A region extended among beaches and tracks, golf courses and surf schools? a region full of life.

As icons of the Council, the Tapada Real and the Mafra National Palace are in the top in the region?s guide-book. The exuberant green spaces of Jardim do Cerco involve the workmanship of D. João V, who also protects the Basilica of Mafra, where we can find the famous Carillons, one of the ex libris of the Palace and the greatest of the world.

Also important is the extensive beach line of the West which is an invitation to the leisure and relax. The gorgeous coast of Ericeira is cut for more than ten beaches, some famous for Surf.
